Candace Harris, Esq.

Attorney Harris' reputation and history of successful defense litigation spans close to a decadeShe is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Missouri. Candace Harris has 6 years of litigation experience as a Missouri State Public Defender in the St. Louis City trial division. During her employment as an Assistant State Public Defender, Mrs. Harris was the lead attorney on over one thousand cases ranging from serious traffic offenses and juvenile matters to property crimes and violent offense including murder.  Candace Harris, Esq. was the lead attorney on over sixty jury trials, bench trials and juvenile adjudications. She relies on this experience as the foundation for her abilities as a zealous client advocate and defense attorney.


Prior to working as a public defender Mrs. Harris was a volunteer Guardian ad Litem for 4 years where she represented abused and neglected children in St. Louis City and County.

 In 2010 Ms. Harris accepted a position at Webster University where she worked as an adjunct professor helping to develop young scholars, push them to realize their dreams and exceed their potential.


She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, The Mound City Bar Association and J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association.

Receiving numerous honors throughout her educational career, Mrs. Harris graduated from St. Louis University School of Law earning her Juris Doctorate in 2007.In addition to wining several regional Client Counseling and Negotiating competitions, Mrs. Harris also won the Mid-West Regional Mock Trial competition and her team went on to be finalists in the National Mock Trial Championship during her law school career.


Mrs. Harris relocated to the DMV area in 2011 where she currently resides in Accokeek, Maryland with her 4 children and husband. Mrs.Harris serves as the Chair for the Parent Involvement Board of CYP at Joint Base Anacostia Bolling and volunteers for organization such as Will for Heroes and Project Re-entry with the DC Public Defender Service.  As a former cheerleader for the St. Louis Rams, Mrs. Harris is die hard Rams fan and supporter of the arts.
